Thom and Magdalena Swick have redeveloped homes and other spaces since 1980. Beginning as a young couple, they haven’t shied away from the chaos of living in (and managing) construction sites while simultaneously building their tax and financial services business. Coming from difficult childhoods, they embraced the opportunities available in the Los Angeles area to build value for families and small businesses through both real estate and financial services. 

They were joined by their son Kris (KSwick_Studio) starting in 2004 (when he was 13). Kris first worked with Thom and Magdalena to build Rancho Magdalena, a California ranch style retreat. Together, they have gone on to redevelop other properties including their financial services firm’s offices, the ‘Swick Haven’ family home, and a bright new house for their daughter Iliana’s growing family.

With his brother Josh’s help, Kris went on to envision an alternative method of property development and stewardship, founding the Collective Arts Incubator (‘CAI’) in 2015. Since then, its first location in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles has supported the presentation of independent artwork while housing craftsmen and creative entrepreneurs.
